Participation of professors of the T.S.E.K., the Bishop of Constantia and Famagusta, Mr.Vasileiou and Archim. Grigorios Ioannidis, at the International Conference of the Faculty of Theology of the E.K.P.A
The Professors of the Theological School of the Church of Cyprus, His Eminence Metropolitan Vasilios of Constantia and Famagusta and Archimandrite Archbishop Vassilios, were present. Grigorios Ioannidis, took part in the International Conference of the Faculty of Theology of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens from 24 to 28 November 2024 in Athens on the topic: “Orthodox Theology in the 21st Century”. Challenges and Perspectives”, under the auspices of the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece.
His Eminence Metropolitan Vasilios of Constantia and Famagusta took part as a speaker in the Third Session of Wednesday 27/11/2024 with the Thematic Unit “Orthodox Theology and Interchristian Dialogue (1948-2024)” and presented the topic “The ecclesiological principles and prerequisites of the ecumenical dialogue in the context of the “Faith and Order” committee of the WCC. The contribution of Orthodox ecclesiology to the theological reorientation of the ecumenical movement in the 21st century”. He also participated the next day, Thursday 28/11/2024, in the Thematic Table of Discourse “The Orthodox Church and Geopolitics today
Archim. Grigorios Ioannidis took part as a speaker in the Second Session of Thursday 28/11/2024 with the Thematic Section “Pastoral Theology and Applications in the Face of Contemporary Challenges”, subsection “Liturgy, Pastoral Theology and Theology Today”, and presented the topic “The study of liturgical sources in the 21st century: need, methodology, importance and value”.
The opening of the Conference was held with great pomp on Sunday, November 24th in the great ceremony hall of the historic main building of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in the presence of the H.H.P. the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I, the President of the Hellenic Republic Mrs. Katerina Sakellaropoulou, His Beatitude Archbishop of Athens and All Greece Mr. Hieronymos II and the Rector of the NKUA Mr. Gerasimos Siasos.
The Conference was attended by over 180 Orthodox Theologians from all over the world, representing almost all the local Orthodox Churches and the most important Orthodox Theological Schools. The main proceedings of the Conference were held from 25 to 28 November 2024 at the “Alkis Argyriadis” Amphitheatre of the main campus of the University of Athens.
