Maria Sakellariou

Profile:

Dr. Maria Sakellariou professor of Early Childhood Education at the University of Ioannina. She was President of the Department of Early Childhood Education of the University of Ioannina from September 2013 to November 2017 and she is currently the Director of the Postgraduate Program in “Preschool Education” and Director of the Laboratory of Pedagogical and Didactic Methodology of the Department of Early Childhood Education University of Ioannina. She has taught as Visiting Professor at the Department of Educational Sciences of the University of Cyprus at the Postgraduate Program of Studies “Gender and New Technologies in Education”, which is implemented by the TEEPES of the University of the Aegean. She teaches at the Master’s program “Education Sciences – Critical Pedagogy and Teacher Education” at the University of Crete and Pedagogical Theories and Pedagogy and Religious Lessons at the Theological School of the Church of Cyprus.

Since 2011 she is responsible for the compulsory practice of the students of the Department of Early Childhood Education at the University of Ioannina and she was the coordinator of the ‘Learning by Design program’ (http://neamathisi.com/learning-by-design) from 2012 until 2017, in collaboration with research networks and social actors in Greece and abroad http://earlychildhoodpedagogy.gr.

She has participated in many conferences and successfully organized the annual International Symposium on Preschool and School Education at the University of Ioannina and abroad (in collaboration with the University of Cyprus and the Department of Education Sciences http://earlychildhoodpedagogy.gr/symposia/.)

She is the Director of the Series: Education: Design, Organization, Administration, Publ.Field.

Research interests:

Her research interests and her published articles focus on Pedagogical and Pre-school / Early Childhood Education, particularly the cognitive areas of Didactic Methodology, Planning and Evaluation of Curricula, Social and Ethical Learning, Religious Education in the Intercultural Education, Creative Learning, as well as School-Family-Community Cooperation.
